June 1 – Venus at greatest elongation in morning sky 46-degrees from Sun.

Mars is still 30-degrees up but just over 5 arc seconds when the month begins.

June 3rd – first quarter Moon

June 4th – Lunar Straight Wall Visible this evening

June 5th – Eye of Clavius visible on Moon

June 6th – after midnight on 5th – Moon and Spica – in 5- degree field for central NA and West

June 8th  – Mercury and Jupiter dance at dusk

June 11 – Full Moon

June 16th – Mare Orientale visible 

June 18 – Last Quarter Moon

18 & 19th – Moon Neptune and Saturn

June 21st – Solstice

  • Be sure to look for noctilucent clouds

June 25th – New Moon – young moon visible for some 

  • NGC 6231 Well Placed this week

June 27th – Mercury & Moon + Castor & Pollux
